Russia Says Its Military Took Control of Village Zirka
(MENAFN) On Saturday, Russia announced that its military had taken control of Zirka, a village situated in Ukraine’s volatile Donetsk region.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that troops from the Vostok (East) military formation executed “decisive offensive actions” resulting in the capture of this village, located in a fiercely contested frontline zone.
At present, there is no independent verification of this claim, and Ukraine has yet to respond to Russia’s announcement.
Donetsk continues to be a critical hotspot in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, with heavy combat persisting across multiple battlefronts.
Recently, Russian forces have stepped up their operations in this area, asserting they have made gradual territorial advances.
