Iran Restores Central, Western Airspace Access for International Flights
This move came after the Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) of Iran gave its approval and security and safety evaluations by relevant agencies were completed, ministry spokesman Majid Akhavan confirmed in an official statement.
Akhavan also noted that the country had previously reopened its eastern airspace to domestic, international, and transit flights. However, he emphasized that "no flight would land in or take off from Iran's airports in the northern, southern and western parts."
Separately, the CAO clarified that airspace over Iran's northern, southern, and western regions will remain closed until 14:00 local time (10:30 GMT) on Sunday.
Iran initially closed its airspace on June 13 following Israeli airstrikes targeting Tehran and other locations. The 12-day aerial conflict concluded with a ceasefire declared on Tuesday.
