Trump Describes Netanyahu Trial as “Political Witch Hunt”
(MENAFN) U.S. President Donald Trump voiced strong support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday, denouncing his ongoing corruption case as a “political witch hunt.”
Trump made the remarks in a message on Truth Social, expressing frustration at what he views as unjust treatment of Netanyahu by the Israeli legal system.
Trump described the situation as “terrible,” calling Netanyahu a “War Hero” and praising his leadership.
He credited the Israeli Prime Minister for closely cooperating with the United States in efforts to neutralize the “dangerous Nuclear threat in Iran.” Trump also noted that Netanyahu is currently engaged in critical talks with Hamas aimed at securing the return of Israeli hostages.
In his post, Trump questioned the legitimacy of Netanyahu being required to spend entire days in court for what he characterized as minor accusations, including “Cigars” and a “Bugs Bunny Doll.”
He likened the trial to his own legal battles, reiterating that it is a “POLITICAL WITCH HUNT.”
He further asserted that the proceedings amount to a miscarriage of justice and could negatively impact ongoing negotiations with both Iran and Hamas. Trump labeled the actions of Israeli prosecutors as “INSANITY.”
He emphasized America’s financial and military commitment to Israel, stating, “The United States of America spends Billions of Dollar (sic) a year, far more than on any other Nation, protecting and supporting Israel.”
He warned that such treatment of Netanyahu could strain this longstanding alliance. Trump concluded his message with a direct appeal: “LET BIBI GO, HE’S GOT A BIG JOB TO DO!”
Earlier, Trump had also urged that Netanyahu’s trial, which resumed Monday, be thrown out in recognition of his contributions to the nation.
